WMT in systemic sclerosis: a case report

发表时间:2023-12-15 18:09

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by skin thickening and fibrosis, which may involve multiple organs and systems. Recent studies have indicated that patients with SSc frequently exhibit gut microbiota dysbiosis, suggesting that the gut microbiota may play a role in the pathogenesis and progression of SSc. Washed microbiota transplantation can reconstruct the gut microbiota of patients, potentially treating both intestinal and extra-intestinal diseases. This study reports the diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making process, along with long-term follow-up results, for a patient with SSc presenting with severe abdominal pain, bloating, and diarrhea. It emphasizes the importance of clinical thinking in microbiota medicine within personalized treatment strategies.
